To rain or not to rain………

I wish it would make up its mind on raining.  It starts then stops.  Then it clouds up and then the sun comes out.

Thursdays seem to be catch all days anymore.  The day of the week for everything that needs to be done that didn’t get done on the first three days.

Today has not been a productive day.

Lots to post, no time?

Wow there seems like lot of stuff I could post right now but I don’t have the time.

Getting ready to start shelling corn, finishing up a couple of VRT recs, kids starting back to school, doctor visits and in the middle of all of this, someone went and scheduled a fish fry!

Looking forward to the fish fry just to catch my breath.

Promise I will be back to regular posting later this week.

Slow Posting This Week

Sorry gang, but there will be slow posting this week.

Finished up cleaning out the gain bin, hauling wheat, putting machinery up, PT, DR and field day.

I will try to get a few things nailed to the wall this week, but it will be thin in comparison to other weeks.

Weekend of distruction or weekend of clean up?

We spent the weekend tearing down an old barn on the farm. I was surprised how fast the work went for the most part. Needless to say that we were all tired and sore afterwards. Lots of nails to pull, barn tin to pull and old rough cut lumber to save.

But between the Cat and the backhoe, it was short work getting it down and cleaned up. Now just to take the concrete up and use it to make a dry water crossing from one field to another.

Added a few things…….

I have added a few things to the site.

At the right is a Recent Comments box that will show recent comments on posst I have made.

Also at right is a Site Updates box that will have the GDU’s and updates to this site that you might not see right off hand

Hope this helps!

Got to get that anhydrous tool bar ready for sidedressing!

To many things to do and so little time it seems…

On the “to do list” for the next week:  (in no particular order)

  • Pull some available N test.
  • Split the pile of wood up that has been in the back yard all winter to get it out of the way
  • Clean out the camper that I took on the field exercise this weekend
  • Clean out my office and find all the stuff I have missed the last two weeks during planting.
  • Get the anhydrous parts I need and get the tool bar ready to side dress
  • Go through all my vacation pictures and video and edit/post them to the website as promised
  • Same thing for Knob Creek pics and video
  • Make a video of the Auto Steer on the planter.
  • Clean up my office and shop, again
  • Begin to get ready to pull a few soils samples
  • Clean up the junk about the barns, clean out one of the barns, fix one of the barns, tear down one of the barns, paint the barns and bins.
  • Sharpen the blades on the lawn mower and bush hog
  • Install the chopper on my combine
  • fix the leaky cylinder on the field cultivator
  • go shoot my guns and practice a little for one of the upcoming Appleseeds
  • Spray, Spray, Spray, Spray.
  • Do some general maintenance on the grain truck, get it inspected and haul the remaining beans out of the bin.
  • Go to a long drawn-out and possibly redundant Extension Council meeting.
  • Get ready to fix and renovate a couple of waterways, if it quits raining.

That is the short list……..most of which wont get done this week.  None of the outside stuff if it rains again.

More severe weather is forecast for this weekend……………………………yea.

Heck, I spent all day yesterday trying to get my check book to balance and am still not there yet……………………

Home. Did you miss me?

We are home from our vacation.  Phoenix, Sedona, Grand Caynon, Phoneix, Apline, San Diego, Coronado Island and then home.

Lots of pictures and post to do to cover the trip………not much cell phone coverage and very little Internet on this trip, which did me GOOD!  However now there is Friday to catch up on the incredible amount of email and messages.

But then again, Saturday cometh!!! Knob Creek!

Snow and Ballistic Tables

Well its snowing again.  27 deg as I type this.  It was a long day it seems,  but I did get quite a few things done.

As I watch it snow, listen to the LEARS net on the 805 repeater and watch Tactical Impact, I am trying to do some poor mans trigonometry and calculate a ballistic table for the 17HMR 17gr bullet.  It is much harder than it appears  the first time or two I do it, but I am getting it done.

One of these days, when it quits snowing, we are going to go out and shoot, I hope.

The Joys of Solid Food.

From the guy who couldn’t keep it down 24 hours ago.

Nuff said on that.

Not a good day.

Went to Evansville last night and checked into the hotel so I would be fresh and ready for the CCA meeting starting at 7am this morning.  After getting in the room I spent the next few hours miserable, then more miserable and without doing into gross details, sicker than sick all night in the room with a tile floor.  I did get to sleep sometime in the middle of the night but woke up several times to make a trip into the “other room”.

So once I got up and felt like I could function without looking intoxicated or medicated, I checked out and drove the two hours home.  It was a looooooong drive home.  Got home crawled in bed and tried to sleep but the aching in my stomach prevents that.  That and telemarkters ringing the phone, so I turned it off.

20 CCA credits down the drain, and I needed them.

How sick am I?  Well I drove right by the Ham Station and didn’t even consider stopping, which my wife will tell you means that I was one hurting puppy.  I did acknowledge that I was passing by with a moan as I rested my head against the drivers door window.

AHHHHHHHHH

Well just got notice that I might have jury duty. Great.

Not that I don’t want to do it, but it is that time of year for CCA meetings and I NEED the credits because I didn’t get to go last year. AND I have spent the money to sign up and reserve meals/rooms etc at most of them.

My luck I will get the OJ trial that will go on for years………………

Finished the What Would Google Do? Book last night and my head is buzzing with ideas, thoughts and what ifs and why nots. I recommend the book highly, Five Stars! It really brought home that we live in a totally different world due to the Internet and the online community’s that are build around it. Again, things are still sinking in……………

Also started another book called Emergency! This book could save your life. So far it is interesting from a totally different stand point. It is not your typical survival or disaster preparation handbook type read, but one mans journey into “survialism”. I will give you a follow up when I get it done…………..

Well I did it I guess

Got on Facebook…………………we shall see how it goes.

Now if I just have any friends!!!

Twas the night after Christmas….

It is 20 some odd degrees outside and I have had all the Christmas food I can stand.

So it was outside to the grill to cook up a big round steak!!! Just me, the cats, Annie (our dog) and the cold. Man did it sure smell good!!

Liquid Snow

The view down my driveway this morning. Rain gauge shows 3.3 inches, not sure if that is right but the yard sure gives testament to at least that much.
